More to Know about Barb's Books for Preschool Age Students

Question: How do you determine which schools to serve?

Answer: Barb's Books supports selected school divisions in Southwest Virginia where she worked and lived for more than seven decades .  It also supports selected schools in Virginia Beach, Va. where her sister lives and work.

Question: How often do the students get books and do they get to keep them?

Answer: Students get books at  registration, winter break and the end of the year. They keep  the books for work at home and for their home library. Some schools gets books for Barb's Bookcase in the cafeteria and  reading area for the students to utilize during transition times.

Question: What types of books do students receive?

Answer: Books are age appropriate activities, math, reading, writing skill level books  and story books  to encourage parental engagement.

Question: How do you get the books?

Answer: Barb's Books is a 501-C3 non-profit organization.  Funding is received from individual donors, organizations and churches. Age-appropriate books are purchased from book companies and publishing companies.

Question: How many books are delivered annually and how many students are impacted? 

Answer: Students get books three times a year. Therefore, 1,500 books are delivered to the schools annually which has an impact on 500 students each year.

Question: Do you receive grant-funding for Barb's Books?

Answer: No grant- funding is provided. Barb's Books was organized by her family and it is sustained by her family and friends.
